Summer vacations

After long deliberation and three years of growing, Ba decided to cut her hair. For women this is a very emotional experience, and this was the longest her hair had ever been. It is now cute and short.

We were east of Idaho Falls for a family reunion. We all made tie dye shirts, played endless games of fun, and enjoyed each others company. The "Ranch" where we stayed had a big forest to play in, a zip-line, water slide, two giant slides, golf course, 4-wheelers, ping pong, billiards table, fussball and so much more. It is a playground for any age.

This is LE's first time on a water slide. Ry looks scared, but she seems to be okay.

Ry's brother came home from his mission, and the boys went to climb Mt. Owen in the Tetons. It is the middle peak shown below with the grand on the left.

They had to use cramp-ons and ice axes to get up the glacier. During the day a bunch of snow melted so we had to repel down a rock chimney while getting rained on.

Ba and Ry are on the activities committee for the ward and decided to host a biathlon. It seemed like people enjoyed themselves and sister Little Debbie provided us with prizes. Mmmm.

Our neighbor has a pool that she keeps really warm, and invited us to take a dip. LE really liked it and her mother has plans for her to be swimming before she can run.

Sleeping is always an adventure because LE can now roll over. She gets arms and legs between the slats on her crib but she usually keeps on sleeping. Babies sleeping are just so adorable. If you have any suggestions of how to help babies sleep better, please impart your wisdom. We are first timers here and tips are welcomed.

LE is at the age where if anything is upsetting her we just say she is teething. She started to eat her restraint like it was corn on the cob...so we think she is teething.

Feet are the new "favorite toy". This is really nice because we won't forget to bring them along. She probably plays with her feet because she is teething.

  3. She's so cute. Did she like the pool? Sleeping is tricky. Without knowing what problem you guys are having, I'll point you towards a book I've loved using, Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, Which walks you through baby's first weeks through to childhood. The first part is a bit preachy about how important sleep is, which is like duh. But the walkthrough has been really helpful to us. Like until babies are five months they need to sleep again after 1-2 hours of being awake. After that it gives you a cycle with times for naps and bedtimes that was nice for me to implement. He tells you how to use several sleep strategies from cry it out to no cry to some cry. You are welcome to call me if you have particular questions.

  6. Well your haircut is cute.

I like the water slide picture.

I didn't think of it when you said LE doesn't like to be swaddled anymore, but A-face appears to not like it anymore either, but she really does. Mostly we just swaddle her arms so they stay down. But you guys are better parents than us anyway :)

Thanks for letting Than participate in the biathlon.

A-face wanted to say something too:

  7. Looks like you guys have been busy and having a lot of fun!!! Your little girl is sooooo cute! I only have one suggestion to help her sleep without moving around too much, we always wrapped Owen's legs pretty snug right before he went to bed, so he gets tired a little faster trying to get out. We just use a really light blanket in the summer.

  9. I love the water slide picture too...she really probably will be swimming in no time. As for information on babies sleeping better, I just finished a book that I loved and my cousin swears on it that your baby can be sleeping through the night by 6-8 weeks. I know that Le is older than that but they even have a section on what to do it you start after they are born. The book is called Baby Wise and I am planning on suggesting it to everyone that has a baby.
